People want their ears tickled, not their toes stepped on. And where is the church in this time? If we are not careful, many of us may be caught doing nothing but longing for the day of the Lord to come so that all this will be over and we can go home at last. It is easy to get tired and sit down to rest before we have finally entered our rest with Christ. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t long for the day of the Lord. Absolutely we do look forward to the day of his coming! We even speed it along with the spread of the gospel (2 Peter 3:12). But in verse 11 of that same passage, Peter implies the question even as he gives the answer. As we look toward judgment at his coming… what sort of people ought we to be?
