Imagine you have had a falling out with your Christian brother or sister, and your pastor comes to you, encouraging you to overlook the wrong, to forgive and reconcile. You listen patiently to him then respond, “Okay, I’ll pray about it.” Immediately alarm bells should be going off in your head! You have just stepped outside God’s will for you! Peter says, “Love above all, before all else!” Rather than pray about whether you should love your brother or sister, you must confess your sin, say, “Yes sir!” to your Father’s will, and choose to love your brother or sister. It is not a negotiable of the Christian faith. Our love is to be loyal love like his because we are called to be his children, reborn in his likeness!
