Two thousand years ago, God the Father sent his Son to a world infested with darkness, a world filled with men and women who were set against his law placed upon their hearts, a world not entirely dissimilar to ours. The roughly 7 billion men, women, and children who currently occupy the globe today were as of yet unborn 2000 years ago. Yet God sent his beloved Son to die for them at that time in history so that their unborn lives could be preserved beyond the reaches of death into eternity should they put faith in the Son. The roughly 6-10 billion who occupied the world in the two centuries previous to ours – they were as of yet unborn when Christ came and gave his life for their preservation and salvation too. And we could go on estimating the global population back through the centuries in an attempt to total up how many unborn lives God cared about so much that he sent his Son to die for them to provide for the preservation of their lives. But the point would be the same, no matter the number. God cares for unborn humanity just the same as he cares for those who are living now and those who have passed before us. He knows each of us by name as persons made in his image, and he loves us so much he sent his Son to die for us!
