Sometimes, what Scripture doesn’t say says a lot. In the opening stanza of Psalm 2, rebellious humanity doesn’t demand of God a proof of his existence or his good will towards them or his right to rule over them. God’s right to rule over them is assumed, even by them. It’s the basic starting point from which their explicit goal derives. They want to cast off the rule of God despite the fact that they know instinctively they ought to be subject to him. Nevertheless, they organize and they protest and attempt to cast off his rule. This is exactly the state of our world. Men explicitly seek to throw off their accountability to Yahweh God and to his Anointed one. Will they succeed? Not a chance.
