The rule of law is ignored. Corruption, fraud, cover-ups, and self-enrichment seem to be par for the political scene. Something is very wrong in our country. In the midst of jockeying for position and power, it seems that many of our leaders have lost the proper perspective of their role in governing. Government’s authority is given by God for the purpose of upholding what he says is true and right. It falls to rulers and governments to recognize evil for what it is, to stand between evil men and those who would live for good, and “to protect the ordinary happiness of human beings in this life,” (C.S. Lewis). With this understanding, the litmus test for leadership then becomes, “Who fears under my rule?”
