Jesus was called the Son of the Most High because he is the Son of God. And as such he wasn’t just going to be king. He had already been Lord over creation from eternity past. After his mission here on earth was finished, he would return to the Father’s right hand where he would reign in his glory. Think about the significance of this for a moment. The baby in Mary’s womb was the normally-invisible everlasting God being born as a flesh-and-blood human child!
