Many shows, movies, and books have a similar basic plot. Bad actors do something evil or abuse a system for their own nefarious purposes. A good actor is sent in to stop them. But as soon as the bad characters discover what the good guy is up to, they target him to take him out so he can’t stop them. The rest of the story becomes all about how the good guy survives and brings the crooks to justice! I don’t think the popularity of this basic plot is any accident. It mirrors what happened to God’s Son when he came to save us. The righteous King arrived, bringing justice in his hand. Those who longed for goodness and righteousness rejoiced while those who loved evil and who loved using the world’s systems to their advantage immediately targeted him to take him down.
